  • Dr. Intezar Mehdi is the Director and Head of the Department, Senior Consultant - Paediatric Haeamtology Oncology & BMT at HCG Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.
  • Dr. Mehdi is a well-known paediatric haemato-oncologist, whose expertise lies in the treatment of malignancies, childhood leukaemia (ALL, AML), lymphoma (Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas), histiocytosis syndromes in children, CNS tumours, bone tumours, Wilms tumour, neuroblastoma, sarcomas and other solid tumours in children. 
  • He is well-experienced in the treatment of haematological disorders like thalassaemia, sickle cell anaemia, anaemia in children, AIHA, ITP, platelet disorders, haemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
  • Dr. Mehdi is also well-versed in autologous and allogeneic blood and bone marrow transplants which are indicated in haematological and oncological malignancies and benign conditions like thalassemia and aplastic anaemia.  
  • Dr. Mehdi has handles about 100 cases every year.
Training and Certifications
  • Dr. Mehdi completed has his certificate course from the Indian Association of Palliative care in 2012.
  • He has also finished a certificate course on Sharing Experience in Managing thrombotic disorders from Royal College of Physicians - RCP activity code number 106928 - (2016 - 2017).
  • He has also completed his intensive course for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC2020) from St Jude cure for kids - online course ( Jan – March 2020).

  • He is an active member of multiple paediatric associations and societies in India and abroad.
  • Dr. Mehdi is a life member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), UK.
  • Dr. Mehdi also holds a membership at paediatric haematology/oncology chapter (IAP) and IAP-BPS, Bengaluru, Karnataka and Indian Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Group (IPHOG).
  • He is a life member of IMA- Indian Medical Association and Member of SIOP- International society for Pediatric Oncologists and member of ISBMT- Indian society of Blood and Bone marrow transplant. 
  • Dr. Mehdi is a reviewer of Indian Journal of Palliative care (IJPC), Indian Journal of Pediatrics (IJP), Indian Journal of Child Health (IJCH), and Indian Journal of case reports (IJCR)
