The multidisciplinary treatment approach helps our specialists devise a customised treatment plan for our patients based on their cancer type, stage and their overall condition. In other words, the treatment given will be specific to that patient rather than to that specific cancer type.
The multidisciplinary team comprises medical, surgical and radiation oncologists along with trained experts in pain management, onco-dietetics and psychosocial intervention.
This personalised approach positively impacts the treatment response and recovery among patients.
Diagnostic Services at HCG Cancer Centre, Kalaburagi
CT Scan: A computed tomography (CT or CAT) scan allows doctors to examine the patient’s internal organs. This imaging technique uses a combination of X-rays and a computer to create images of various organs, bones, and other tissues. The images obtained from a CT scan are far more detailed than those from an X-ray scan.
CT scans help detect bone and joint problems, like complex bone fractures and tumours. The results from this imaging technique help doctors in devising treatment plans and procedures, such as biopsies, surgeries and radiation therapy. CT scans are also helpful in disease-restaging, wherein the doctor compares the results of the CT scans done during the treatment to check if the current therapy is working.
Mammography: Mammography is used for breast cancer detection. Low-dose X-rays are used to examine the breast for the signs of benign or malignant tumours.
X-Ray: X-ray helps in detecting structural abnormalities within the body. X-rays play an important role in the detection of lung, stomach and kidney cancers.
