Diagnostic Services at HCG NMR Cancer Centre

PET-CT: PET-CT is one of the advanced methods of molecular imaging that provides data on both anatomical and biochemical changes. PET-CT imaging helps in diagnosis, staging/restaging, treatment planning, therapy monitoring and treatment evaluation. This data helps the specialists in delivering better care and treatment support.

MRI Scan: MRI scans are used to generate detailed images of various internal organs, such as the brain, spine, prostate, uterus, liver, etc. An MRI scan is suggested in cases wherein the doctor suspects an abnormal growth. MRI scans can provide information on the presence of benign and potentially hazardous masses in various parts of the body.

Mammography: Mammography is used for breast cancer detection. Low-dose X-rays are used to examine the breast for the signs of benign or malignant tumours.

Radiation Oncology

The radiation oncology department at HCG NMR Cancer Centre houses the state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator, which is capable of delivering IGRT with CBCT, 3DCRT and IMRT with PET-based radiation treatment planning. The treatment administered is constantly monitored by the expert team, and the comfort of the patients is prioritised at all phases of the treatment.

The centre also has a brachytherapy unit to deliver internal beam radiation therapy. Brachytherapy comes with fewer side effects and allows superior precision radiation delivery. Brachytherapy is used to treat prostate cancers, gynaecological cancers such as cervical and endometrial cancers, head and neck cancers, rectal cancers, etc.

Surgical Oncology

This department is capable of delivering various cancer treatments like high-dose chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy and immunotherapy. Haemato oncology and BMT

At HCG NMR Cancer Centre, the haematology and BMT department is well-equipped and is supported by skilled haematologists and BMT experts, who are trained to manage multiple haematological disorders, such as myeloma, leukaemia, lymphomas, aplastic anaemia, immune deficiency disorders and certain paediatric cancers through stem cell transplantation.

Palliative Care / End of Life Care

Palliative care focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with advanced-stage cancers. People with cancer may receive palliative care at any time from the point of diagnosis, throughout treatment, and beyond. Palliative care primarily focuses on managing the symptoms caused due to cancer, which could be pain or other discomfort and supporting better quality of life for the patients. While delivering palliative care, we consider the hardships of both the patients and their caregivers and ensure to provide a humane and dignified end to the patient’s suffering.

HCG NMR Cancer Centre houses a modern and well-equipped ICU that supports effective critical care management with a team of dedicated intensivists available round the clock. This ICU also has specialised isolation wards for patients diagnosed with highly infectious medical conditions.
The haematology and BMT unit is well-equipped with comfortable BMT suites along with neutropenic wards.
Palliative care department is also set up at the centre to support symptom management among terminally ill cancer patients and help improve their quality of life.
