Dr. Basant is a skilled HPB and liver transplant surgeon, who specialises in performing laparoscopic & robotic liver resections.
He has vast experience in performing living donor liver transplantation, living and deceased donor kidney transplantation, deceased donor pancreas transplantation and Islet stem cell transplantation.
He is trained and experienced in performing the following robotic, laparoscopic and open hepatopancreatobiliary surgeries:
- Whipple’s Pancreaticoduodenectomy
- Spleen Sparing Distal Pancreatectomies
- ALPSS(Associating Liver Partition with Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy): Highest series in India
- Surgeries on Hilar Cholangiocarcinomas (CCA)
- Radical Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Cancer)
- Right and Left Hepatectomies, Extended Right and Left Hepatectomies, Central Hepatectomies, Segmental Liver resections (For Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Cholangiocarcinoma, Colorectal Liver Metastases, Neuroendocrine Liver Metastases, Hemangioma, Biliary Hamartoma, Hydatid Cyst of Liver related surgeries)
- Esophagectomies, Gastrectomies, Colectomies, Small Bowel Resections
He also specialises in performing percutaneous procedures of the liver, biliary system and pancreas like microwave and radiofrequency ablations, Trans Arterial Chemoembolisation (TACE), Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage (PTBD), Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Stent Shunt (TIPSS), Percutaneous Ultrasonogram and CT-guided biopsies and drainage of the liver and pancreatic lesions.
Dr. Basant has handled over 1500 cases of HPB and gastrointestinal cancers in the last 8 years of practice.

Training and Certifications

Dr. Basant has completed his certification program on transplantations from the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS).
He has received his training in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery from New York Medical College.
Dr. Basant has also completed his training in percutaneous interventional surgery from IRCAD, Strasbourg, France.
He has received his robotic surgery training from Asan Medical Center, South Korea.
